Macademi Wasshoi ep. 1

This week has been one of the most hectic I’ve had in a while so I had a lot of anime to catch up on. I managed to watch some more new anime today, one of which was Macademi Wasshoi. For a basic idea of what the show’s about, here’s the plot summary from animenewsnetwork:

Magician’s Academy revolves around Takuto Hasegawa, who attends a magic academy that is not marked on any map. During a summoning spell exam, he accidentally creates a girl named Tanarot, who happends to hold enough magical power to destroy his country, but fortunately Tanarot professes undying loyalty to her “creator.”

The first thing I liked about this anime was the character designs. Everyone is just so cute, especially Suzuho, Takuto’s mute cousin who just so happens to have a crush on him. You also find out later in the episode that she can transform into the “Midnight Blue Vampire” which makes her even cooler.

I thought the censoring in this anime was pretty unique. Most anime have random objects or steam/foam covering up parts, but they changed the chracters into these clay-like blobs when they were naked. Although, there was one scene where a flower was randomly used to cover up a naked Tanarot.

One of the funniest scenes in the first episode was when the teacher with the long hair was scanning Tanarot’s magic level. “It’s over 9000!”, if any of you have seen Dragonball Z (I expect most anime fans have), you’ll understand the scene when you see it.

Overall this looked like a really good anime. It managed to keep me laughing throughout most of the first episode, something very few anime manage to do. And when I’m not laughing, I’m admiring how cute-looking the characters are ^.^
This was definitely worth the watch after a tough week at school, and I look forward to the rest of the series.
