Gunbuster and Diebuster

December 21, 2008

After a busy week studying for and writing exams, I’m finally done, and after getting some much needed rest I decided to catch up on some anime that I haven’t watched.

The first anime I decided to finish off was Gunbuster. As any veteran anime fan would know, Gunbuster was a big hit way back in the 80’s, so you may be wondering why I decided to watch it now. I had actually seen the first episode of Gunbuster a loooooooong time ago when I started watching anime, but I couldn’t find the rest of the series and eventually forgot about it. Recently, however, I got into a discussion with some friends on whether it was possible to travel into the future by moving really really fast. That discussion reminded me of Gunbuster, which involved ships and robots travelling at near-light-speeds which has the side-effect of slowing time down for the traveller relative to a stationary object (in essence, travelling forward in time). Well since I had some free time I decided to look for the rest of Gunbuster and I was able to find it.

Toradora ep. 9

December 7, 2008

I finally got around to watching episode 9 of Toradora.
This episode involved some funny events and even funnier reactions. It starts off with Taiga and Ryuji having a little badminton match to decide who should support the other first in their plan to get Kitamura to like Taiga and Minori to like Ryuji during their summer vacation trip to Ami’s place by the sea. During the match, Taiga gets “attacked” by a dog and forfeits.

I can see quite a few oppurtunities for photoshopping in this picture >.> (more…)

Hayate Yagami

December 6, 2008

To my surprise, less than a week after it was shipped, my 1/7 scale Hayate Yagami figure by Alter has arrived! This is the fastest that I’ve ever received something shipped from Japan.

It came in a really huge box, which is probably why shipping cost so much. The weight and size of the box is probably why it got here so fast. It would make more sense to get rid of light parcels that take up lots of room first so that you can fit more things on the plane/truck for all the christmas presents being mailed everywhere this month. From the looks of it, someone took a peek at my invoice while it was being shipped here; is that even legal? Megami Magazine Vol. 103

December 6, 2008

After waiting a month for my copy of Megami Magazine volume 103, I thought it would never arrive. Luckily, I was proven wrong and I finally received it a few days ago. A quick look at the package explains why it took so long to get here:

It looks like the CBSA decided to do a random inspection of my package to look for any illegal material. It’s good to know that those guys are doing their jobs and keeping bad things out of the country, but I wish it didn’t delay delivery by so much.

Anyways, on to the magazine: (more…)
